Question about applying the Drude Model to semi conductors in basic principles lecture

Hi I have a question regarding the basic principles lecture where the Drude model is applied to semiconductors. If I follow the derivation above, shouldn’t there be a minus sign in front of the final the part between braquets in the final equation?

That would be impossible: the conductivity is always positive, otherwise it’d violate the conservation of energy. That is also a good way to check your calculation.

Fair point but what is the the mistake I made in the derivation?

Compare with the derivation of Drude conductivity from lecture 3: the sign problem in your calculation appears for both electrons and holes.

Ah yes I see the problem now, thank you
