Do valence electrons or all electrons matter in Drude model?

Does anybody know which electrons are the charge carriers in the Drude model? All electrons, or the valence electrons?

At the time of Drude nobody knew :slight_smile:

At this point in the course, neither do we, however later when we delve into band structures, we’ll be able to figure that out better.

For now a ballpark guess would be that only some electrons per atom contribute to conductance.
